National Bible Association Programs

1. National Bible Week:

National Bible Association’s signature event is celebrated the week of Thanksgiving every year since 1941. Governors and mayors from across the country proclaim National Bible Week in their states and towns. Congressional co-chairs from the House and Senate enter National Bible Week statements into the Congressional Record, and every US President since Franklin D. Roosevelt has issued a National Bible Week Message.

Bookstores, service clubs, civic groups, and local congregations participate in and promote National Bible Week using materials provided by the National Bible Association. Designed to raised the nation’s interest in the value and importance of reading the Bible, it is the perfect kick-off to the religious holiday season. Since 1951, this special week has been chaired by a well respected national leader acting out of personal conviction of the importance of the Bible.

2. Media and Web Presence

Throughout the year, the National Bible Association produces radio, print and media ads promoting Bible reading. Covering dozens of states, National Bible Association billboards encourage our country to read the Bible from over $3 million of donated billboard space each year. Radio ads voiced by celebrities and professional radio personalities reach millions of listeners with a compelling message about the importance of Bible reading.

From time to time National Bible will develop and launch an integrated public relations campaign utilizing media relations, strategic partnerships with key organizations and grass-roots outreach to increase Bible reading among a specific segment of the US population.

The National Bible Association is proud to provide America’s premier online source of objective information about the Bible. 3. Recognition Awards

Even today the Bible continues to inspire men and women of our country to achieve the unique and wonderful things that make our country great. The National Bible Association recognizes these men and women for their accomplishments through the granting of Recognition Awards that shine a spotlight on the impact of the Bible in public life. Some of these awards include the annual Witherspoon Award which honors a Chaplain of the Armed Services, the Capitol Hill Award which honors a Senator and Congressperson each year for their commitment to Bible reading, and the Kupferman Award which recognizes judges who follow a long and rich national tradition by quoting the Bible in their decisions.
